Brazil: Eletromidia Unveils R$1 Billion Plan to Reach 150,000 Digital Screens and Evolve Toward ‘Data OOH’
Region: Brazil | Date: October 29-30, 2026
Eletromidia, Brazil’s largest out-of-home media company and part of Grupo Globo, presented its 2027 strategic plan at the TMRW 2027 event in São Paulo: more than R$1 billion in investment over five years to fully digitalise its street inventory and grow the network to 150,000 digital screens reaching 100 million unique people. The company currently reaches about 64 million Brazilians monthly through 70,000 digital assets and more than 90,000 touchpoints. The plan also introduces a ‘Data OOH’ evolution, integrating Grupo Globo’s Data Lake with 100 million Globo IDs and a data-clean-room technology, plus MIA, a generative and predictive AI platform for creative optimisation, format adaptation across up to 53 specs and real-time dynamic creative optimisation based on location, weather and traffic.
Why it matters: Latin America’s largest OOH operator is committing record capital to digitalisation and data-driven selling, signalling that Data OOH and AI-assisted creative are becoming mainstream strategic pillars for major media owners outside North America and Europe.

US: Inglewood Billboard Revenue Fight Heads to the Ballot as OOH Industry Watches
Region: United States (California) | Date: October 29, 2026
A years-long dispute between the City of Inglewood and the owners of SoFi Stadium, Intuit Dome and Kia Forum has reached the November ballot. Inglewood earns as much as $8 million a year from digital billboards under a 20-year agreement with WOW Media, which operates about 60 digital signs carrying 108 screens on public medians and sidewalks. Stadium interests backed by billionaire Stan Kroenke are promoting Measure BB to end the city’s authority to earn advertising revenue on public property, arguing the signs undermine the Hollywood Park development agreement. A Los Angeles Superior Court ruled in the city’s favour in June, and the LA County Democratic Party has endorsed a ‘No’ vote on the measure.
Why it matters: The ballot fight is being watched across the US OOH industry as a precedent: if voters strip a city of public-property advertising revenue, municipal advertising programmes elsewhere could face similar challenges from private landowners and venue owners.

Egypt: Hacked Digital Billboard on Cairo Highway Triggers DOOH Security Concerns
Region: Egypt (Cairo) | Date: October 29-30, 2026
A digital billboard spanning one of Cairo’s busiest highways, the 26th of July Axis, was hacked on October 29 and broadcast inappropriate footage before being taken down, according to government statements and local media. Egypt’s Ministry of Interior said the incident was linked to a cyberattack on an international advertising provider that works with the billboard’s operating company. Video of the breach spread rapidly on social media as motorists stopped to record the screen.
Why it matters: The incident highlights the cybersecurity exposure of digital out-of-home networks, where compromised content-management or supply-chain access can put explicit or fraudulent material on public screens in minutes, renewing pressure on operators to harden networks.
